Making Your Mask At Home
As the world tries to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, both the City of Los Angeles and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are now making it MANDATORY to wear a mask when ever we are out in the public. They are particular about covering your nose and mouth when leaving home so if you have a mask great, if you don’t here is how to make a home made mask (and if you’re unable to make one from home using a scarf or some type of cloth to cover your nose and mouth will do.) So how do you make a mask?
There are 2 ways to making a mask at home! One is by sewing one with your sewing machine or the non-sewing one! I don’t have a sewing machine at home (and I know not to many people do either!) so I’m going to go with the non-sewing, I find it quick, simple, and efficient! But I’ll link two sites that demonstrate each one, one step out a time!
NON-SEWING.
On the official Twitter site for the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Jerome Adams demonstrates how to create one by only using a piece of cloth such as a scarf or hand towel and tow elastic bands. And another example I found very helpful as well shown by an online Japanese arts and crafts educator. It’s really quick and easy!
Sewing.
Kaiser Permanente has this how-to-guide on how to sew one from home. This one is great, may be a little more time consuming but it’s an awesome way to make a custom made mask from home!
